Now That’s a BIG FISH!!!

SLV Rod & Gun Club holds a year-long fishing contest among its members.  There are four categories in which fish may be entered.  At this point, it is most likely NO ONE is going to catch a larger catfish than Don Hain did on April 13.  After 1 hour and 20 minutes of fighting the fish, Don hauled in a 63.5 lb., 41” catfish!! Based on recently published records, this is the 2nd largest catfish caught on Lake Thurmond!  Way to go Don!

Shamrock Shoot

On Saturday, March 21, the SLV Rod & Gun Club held its 3rd Annual Shamrock Shoot.  This event involves shooting 4 balloons and one small St. Patty’s Day coin.  Each shooter had 7 shots to shoot the 5 targets.  Two distances for targets were set up—providing opportunities for both new shooters and experienced shooters. This was a “fun” event—everyone was a winner!

Arcade Shoot

On Saturday, April 24, the SLV Rod & Gun Club held an Arcade Shoot.  This event allows shooters the opportunity to shoot at moving targets—just like being at the County Fair!  Members came out with their .22 rifles and aimed at the moving targets set up 25 yards away—the targets were really tiny. This year, the beautiful shotgun/toilet paper holder trophy was passed from Dwaine Wright to Eric Corrow.  Most of the attendees agreed that Dwaine might have missed a few targets on purpose just so he wouldn’t have to take the trophy back home for another year!
