THE SLV ROD & Gun Club held its first of many competitive Bowling Pin Shoots on Saturday, June 12th. Twelve competitors and spectators braved the heat to compete and watch.
The object of the competition is to knock 5 bowling pins from the table with 7 shots. Pins that are hit but remain on the table do not count as hits. The table is 21 feet from the shooter with the pin placement adjusted for the caliber being used.
All calibers can be used. Revolver shooters can compete in a separate category from the semi-automatics by using 6 rounds. It is a fun time with a minimal amount of ammunition being used. It was a fun shoot with some pins at times just refusing to fall off the table, even when hit twice.
Beth Owen, Len Azzarano and Dwaine Wright shot perfect scores, with Dwaine grabbing the coveted “Golden Pin” after shooting a second perfect score. Thanks to Janie Clark for preparing the trophy.
Watch your emails from the Club since we will surely have this shoot again.
