THE SAVANNAH LAKES Rod and Gun Club recently held one of the members favorite sport shooting events called “Pins & Plates.” The event was held Saturday morning from 9:00 until 12:00. The “Pins” are actually used bowling pins that the shooters try to knock down. The “Plates” are small clay disks, generally used for skeet shooting, measuring 4.33 inches in diameter, which they try to break. We set up ten targets at varying lengths, and the shooter gets to fire ten rounds. Normally, for competitive shooting, the contestants are timed, and the best accuracy in the shortest time is judged to be the winner. However, due to COVID-19, and limited range time, participants were not timed. This was meant to be for fun only and fun it was indeed! Although the morning was rather warm everyone enjoyed the friendship and being able to participate in a little friendly shooting. Shooters were invited to stop by at their convenience and shoot as many times as they desired. Approximately twenty members stopped by to see old friends, after being “cooped up” for three months, and to fire 30 or more rounds at the targets. The SLV Rod and Gun Club is very active conducting several events per month. However, COVID-19 has severely curtailed all of our activities, and this was our first event since the beginning of March. Like everyone else, we look forward to resuming our normal activities and life in the “FUN LANE!”
