ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 20th, over 30 SLV Outdoor Adventure Club (OAC) members came together for a hike at the Richard B. Russell State Park in Georgia.  We hiked on several of the trails at the park.  Everyone had a chance to hike the trails they wanted, with the distances ranging from 4 to 5 miles.  We enjoyed having the chance to meet some of the new residents of SLV at this event.  After our hike, several of us enjoyed a picnic lunch by the water.  Others continued their exploration of the area and went into Elberton to see what restaurants looked interesting, checked out the snack bar at the park’s golf course or found another location to lunch.  After their picnic lunch, hikers had a chance to explore the other amenities of this great park.  One of our members, who is very active in hiking, biking, kayaking, etc., brought his kayak and went for a paddle after the hike and picnic.

The OAC is planning a nature hike In March at Steven’s Creek, as well as a kayaking event.  Don’t forget, the Walk SLV Challenge is back this year.  Everyone is encouraged to put on your walking shoes and get out there to see SLV on foot.  Please remember to step off the road if there is oncoming traffic.  Your safety is important to us!
If you are not already a member of the OAC, you may join at the SLV Recreation Center.
