McCORMICK FARMER’S MARKET is in full swing! We have been seeing record numbers of shoppers and vendors participating in our summer endeavor. As more fruits and vegetables are ripening we anticipate things to get even better. Who does not enjoy tomatoes bursting with flavor in salads, with mozzarella and basil with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar or simply on bread dusted with salt and pepper.
Summer 2019 marks the fourth year of the McCormick Market. Each year the market has grown with more vendors and shoppers. Last year an average of 384 people visited the market each week. This season we are especially excited as we have so many new vendors. Have you heard people talking about the benefits of CBD oils and want to learn more? This year there is a CBD oil vendor who can answer all of your questions. If you already know about CBD oils and are looking for a local source to purchase, check out our market. Shoppers are also enjoying microgreens. Microgreens are young vegetables approximately 1–3 inches tall. Coming in a variety of colors and textures they have an aromatic flavor and concentrated nutrient content. Microgreens are considered baby plants, falling somewhere between a sprout and baby green. Microgreens are delicious on sandwiches and in salads. You will also find this year beautiful wood cutting boards and lazy susans. All are hand made from different varieties of wood from around the world. For those of you who love honey we finally have a local honey producer who has joined the market and will be offering their honey each week. This is wonderful as for years of hunting we finally have a local honey producer at the market.
Most shoppers’ favorite vendors have returned for the season. We have produce vendors with their fresh fruits and vegetables, bakery vendors with cakes, bread, rolls and pies. Other vendors have jellies and jams, goat milk soap, hot boiled peanuts, fresh shrimp and locally raised beef, chicken and pork. There really is something for everyone at our market. We hope to see everyone at the Dorn Mill Complex on Tuesdays from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm shopping at the McCormick Market.
